About
I’ve lived and worked in the Pittsburgh area all my life, except for my undergrad years at Sarah Lawrence College (Hey, Gryphons!) where I concentrated in theater and women’s studies. Later I earned a Masters in Professional Writing from Chatham University.
I fell for radio and reporting as a volunteer with the now-defunct Rustbelt Radio, an Indymedia program in Pittsburgh.
I’m currently the host of The Allegheny Front, a weekly environmental public radio program based in Pittsburgh and broadcast regionally. I love my job; I get to interview entomologists, climate protesters and dog sledders. My stories have also been heard on Living on Earth, Inside Appalachia, and Here & Now.
Get in touch with me at karaholsopple [at] gmail DOT com about my work, story ideas or collaborations. I’m also on Twitter.
